History of Exchange

Started in 2012 by Susan Wells, assisted by Jim Rogers
We owe the start up of this program to Susan Wells, a Spanish Immersion parent, and her long-time friend in Madrid who helped make the connection with Liceo schools in Madrid.  Susan Wells was assisted by another SI parent, Jim Rogers in pioneering, preparing and chaperoning the first exchange in June of 2012.   Image Tours provided travel preparation, air, insurance, and first night hotel.

Transitioned to NHMS in 2013 & 2014
In 2013 and 2014 Susan Wells acted as a consultant to transition the program coordination to NHMS. Image Tours continued to provide travel preparation materials, air, insurance, and first night hotel.  Nancy Susterka, NHMS principal, coordinated and teachers prepared and chaperoned these groups.

Image Tours took on Full Coordination in 2015
The program proved overly time consuming for NHMS administrators compared to the percentage of students benefiting. Image Tours was in the ideal position to take on the full coordination of the program, having provided the travel arrangements each year. Susan Wells and Jim Rogers provided consultation during the transition. Monique and Mike Kasmauskis are the owners of Image Tours. Their daughter, Karina, participated during the first year of the program. Monique and Mike have met the coordinators from Liceo in person.

Although the school is no longer directly affiliated with the program, we greatly appreciate their continued support!

A parent-driven opportunity for NHMS SI students to travel abroad for an authentic cultural experience and a chance to be immersed in Spanish
